Early Times Report

Kathua, Oct 2: Miffed over pathetic condition of Nagri-Bamiyal-Narote road, around two dozen people under the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader Anil Singh staged protest demonstration against Border Roads Organization.
The dozens of villagers raised slogans against the government and in favour of their demand. Addressing the protesters, Anil said that a year back the BRO had started the widening of Nagri-Bamiyal-Narote road.
"The work progress is not only slow but half work done has enhanced problems of local as well as the pilgrims, who visit the historical holy place Airwan", he said, adding that the road was full of potholes which made it difficult for vehicles to ply on it.
The huge traffic and damaged road often led to accidents. He further said that after few days Navratra festival would start and thousands of people would visit Mata Bala Sundri and Lord Shiva's temple at Airwan, who would be welcomed only by damaged road.
Alleging the local administration for turning a deaf year towards their problem, he said that time and again, the people have protested besides also apprised DC about the problem but all in vain.
He also highlighted that during tenure of PDP's CM Mufti Mohammad Syed, a historical developmental project was gifted to the Nagri people in the form of Toll Plaza but presently Nagri-Palli road was narrow and was in worst condition, from where, not a light vehicle could pass.
The protesters urged district administration to construct the culvert which was directly link to the cremation ground. Raj Kumar, Nasseb Chand, Gopal Dass, Rakesh Singh Andotra, Ram Krishan, Pappu, Kushal Andotra, Manohar warned district administration that if their demands would not be conceded in time they would be compelled to take hard step.
