Power Grid NRTS-II organises mesmerising Intra -Regional Cultural meeet at Ludhiana

Ludhiana, Oct 5: Emerging artists from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir, H.P, Punjab & Haryana states, in colorful dresses and colourful presentation marked the annual Intra-Regional cultural festival organized by Power Grid Corporation of India, Northern Region -II. The cultural festival & traditional Handicrafts Exhibition was held at Guru Nanak Bhawan in Ludhiana on the evening of 04th October 2013.
J.P Singh, Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System- II was the Chief Guest on this occasion whereas S.K.Sharma General Manager (I/C-Projects) NRTS-II was the Guest of Honour. Shri J.P.Singh inaugurated the Cultural Meet by lighting the traditional lamp with all important dignitaries present on this occasion. Earlier J.P.Singh had inaugurated the Handicrafts Exhibition in presence of large number of guests, POWERGRID employees & families.
The cultural festival encompassing talent from four Northern States swayed the audience to the beats of colorful folk dances and songs highlighting rich composite culture of the Region. It was a major event for the employees and their family members as amateur talent of the Region gathered to highlight their cultural traditions. The cultural programmes were show-cased on hot burning issues like, environment, Girl child abuse, Dowery menace, Anti Corruption. Etc.
All the items in the programme, successfully managed to depict their themes from Yehe Khani Nari Ke by young artists of Abullapur substation, Samajik Bhurayan by the artists of Kishenpur substation, Prakrti He Jeevan Hai- Jiyo aur Jeene by first time participating team of Kaithal substation, Ek Kadam Beteyan de aur by the artists of Kartarpur substation, Aasli Dhan by another debutant team Nalagarh substation, Jai Kisan by the artists of Moga substation, Haryanvi Lok Nritya by artists of Hisar to Ganga Ke Guhar by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu, all the items managed to spell bound the audience as they performed like thorough professionals.
Besides these a traditional Handicrafts Exhibition comprising Crafts, Arts, & Fine Arts, was displayed which had been made by the employees of POWERGRID and their families.
Earlier, on their arrival at programme venue, both the Chief Guest & the Guest of Honour were welcomed by other senior officers of the Corporation in presence of large number of POWERGRID employees & their families. Anil Jain Executive Director (CMG),Corporate centre Gurgaon, R.K.Chauhan GM(I/C-Kurukshetra), K.R. Suri, General Manager (O&M), Sunil Agarwal, General Manager (PSTCL) were also present on this occasion.
In their brief speeches both J.P.Singh and S.K.Sharma complimented the participating teams for their performances. They stressed on the fact that these events are organized by POWERGRID as a part of its welfare policy to inculcate among the employees and their families a feeling of togetherness and at the same time appreciate each others talent and cultural richness.
At the end of function winners as well as participants of Cultural function were presented trophies and mementos by the Dignatries and in Handicrafts Exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second & third were also awarded. While team from RHQ Jammu bagged the winners trophy, Teams from Nalagarh, Hisar and Kishenpur bagged 2nd, 3rd and 4th places.
Stanley Mathews, Chief Manager (HR), NRTS-II gave the welcome address and also presented vote of thanks.
