| Debating Army chief's expose in LA a dangerous precedence | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 5: The Jammu and Kashmir legislative Assembly is setting a dangerous precedence by initiating a debate involving former Army chief's expose about Financing Ministers in the State. The issue should have been dealt with utmost care and should haven't come in public as desired by the Union Minister of State for home after the expose. But this has not happened and Gen (retd) VK Singh committed a blunder by bringing the policy of Army into public and then initiating a debate on it. Now, when the issue is needed to be closed, the JK legislative Assembly is debating the matter, further hurting the national interest. The debate will lead the State or country nowhere and only the work done on strengthening the Centre-State relations will reach all time low. The political leaders of the State must understand the fact that J&K has a special status within constitution of India and to strengthen it every body has to follow it with full patriotism. Those who are demanding scrapping the special status are basically working against the constitution of India and people of the State. Involving Army into political war should not hurt the work done by the Armed forces in the State by sacrificing hundreds of lives while fighting enemy on Line of Control and in the hinter land. People of the State and country know this fact that Army has special role in Jammu and Kashmir and spending money to bring people close with army and if Ministers are involved in the process is no wrong. The State Government must not undermine this fact and initiate a debate on the issue, which will hurt all the work done. On the other hand, the former Army chief should guard secrets instead of going public. He should take the political leadership into confidence so that everything remains intact. |
