| Doctor among 3 JMC employees assaulted, 8 held | | | early times report Jammu, Oct 5: Eight milkmen including president of the milkmen were arrested following the assault on three Jammu Municipal Corporation employees including a doctor here in Bakshi Nagar area today, police said. As per reports, the three members of JMC team intercepted a Tata Mobile carrying barrel of milk for checking the adulteration in milk when milkmen sitting in the vehicle assaulted them during a surprise inspection here today. "Leaving the JMC employees in pool of blood they escaped from the spot. The JMC employees later rushed to the hospital for treatment, a JMC official said. He added that the injured have been identified as doctor Vinod Sharma, driver Kewal Krishan and Ravi. Soon after the new reached to JMC Office, a team of JMC Commissioner Kiran Wattal and other senior officers rushed to the spot. They also lodged a complaint in this regard with the Bakshi Nagar Police. Police after registering the case in this connection started massive manhunt and arrested eight milkmen including three women and their president namely Choudary Zameer. Police also seized the van allegedly driven away by milkmen abandoned outside a milk shop at Tallab Tillo. Undeterred after the bloody incident, a team of JMC Officials continued a drive and intercepted huge quantity of adulterated milk at Bohri, Talab Tillo, Jammu which was seized on spot. The Commissioner, JMC was leading the team to ensure that citizens of Jammu City are supplied good quality of milk during the Navratra Festival. Among others, Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Food Safety Officers were present at the time of inspection. Meanwhile, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation along with his team also paid surprise visit in Milk Shops at Canal Road and found adulterated milk which was destroyed and the shop of Anil Kumar milk vendor at Canal Road, Jammu was sealed. "An FIR was also lodged against the defaulters for taking them to task, JMC official added. The Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation exhorted the Milk Shop owners and Sweetshop owners to maintain quality parameters by observing standard norms in preparation and sale of Milk & Milk Products especially in view of forthcoming festival season. |
