| Court acquits husband in abetment to suicide case | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 21(JNF): Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Kartar Singh had acquitted one Dimple Singh who was facing trial in abetment to suicide case of his wife as prosecution failed. The brief facts of the case that led to the prosecution of the accused are that May 6, 200808, an information was received in the Police Control Room Jammu that one Mst. Bharti Sharma wife of Dimple Singh was admitted in the Govt. Medical College Hospital, Jammu for the treatment of poisoning and on this information Mohd Sayed Khan ASI went to the police station but before his arrival, she had died and her dead body was lying in the mortuary. He recorded the statement of Surjeet Sharma, father of the deceased who stated that in the month of July 2007, Dimple Singh contracted court marriage with his daughter Bharti Sharma and thereafter they were married according to the hindu rites and customs. After marriage, Dimple Singh took her to Chandigarh and they were brought to Jammu by his brother and nephew. Bharti Sharma was left in the house of sister of the accused and the sister of the accused started ill-treating her. Dimple Singh took his wife Bharti Sharma to Bangalore and he was not aware about the aspect and they started living at Nanak Nagar, Jammu. After 4/5 months, the accused Dimple Singh started harassing his wife and asked her to bring more dowry from her parents and she came to her parental house and on 5.6.2008, at about 9:30 pm, the accused abused his daughter on telephone and being tired of constant torture, she consumed poison and was taken to the hospital where she died. Principal Sessions Judge Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh after gone through both the sides held that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove its case against the accused beyond any reasonable shadow of doubt. He is, therefore, acquitted of the charges leveled against him. |
