Anantnag, Oct 21: Pahalgam Village on the left side of river Lidder continues to face acute shortage of drinking water as the water supply scheme meant for the village is being illegally used by the owners of huts and hotels which they have constructed illegally during the year. Residents of Wahidan Dalseer Phalgam told early times that they are facing acute shortage of drinking water because the hut and hotel owners in Movera area in nexus with PHE employees have holed the water supply pipe line and got the connections illegally due to which the taps in the village are running dry. They said the affluent people who have constructed huts and hotels in Movera area, while violating the high court directive are forcing them to migrate from the area as the locals due to the shortage of drinking water are being forced to fetch the water from river Lidder that according to locals is not enough safe to drink.
