'We will be the single largest party in next elections'

Srinagar, Oct 21: Declaring Kashmir as 'integral and inaliable' part of India and claiming Congress was emerging as the 'Only choice' for the people of Jammu and Kashmir PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz along with several senior congress leaders today welcomed the eight 'prominent leaders' including political advisor of Farooq Abdullah, Aslam Goni.
According to a statement hundreds of Congress workers and Senior leaders of PCC, District Congress Committee, Frontal organizations especially Mahila Congress, INTUC, Youth Congress, NSUI and Block Congress Committees assembled at Shaheedi Chowk to welcome the new entrants who along with hundreds of their supporters arrived to Congress headquarters from TRC-Residency Road raising slogans in favour of Congress leadership and Congress party. Soz while welcoming the new entrants to the Congress party, said that the Congress party is fast emerging as the only choice of people because of its progressive policies, democratic and secular values being strengthened by the party. He said that secularism is the strength of Indian Nation and only Congress can lead the state and the entire Nation to the path of peace, progress and prosperity by strengthening secular fabric of this country.
Soz asserted that Congress has emerged a vibrant force in all three regions of the state and the joining of more and more important leaders from political parties as well as the victory of the party in Kargil Council elections is the writing on the wall, that Congress would be the single largest party in the next assembly elections.
Stating that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India, Prof. Soz said that there is no place for politics of 'exploitation and negative politics', as people of the state appreciate and participate in the great democracy of this great Nation for a better and bright future of the state.
According to the party handout, the leaders who joined Congres party include Gurbachan Kumari Rana (Former Minister), Thakur Balbir Singh (Former MLA) & General Secretary PDP, Mohammad Aslam Goni (Former Advocate General) & Senior National Conference leader, Choudhary Tassaduq Hussian (Senior leader PDP), Murtaza Ahmed Khan (Former MLC) & Senior PDP leader, Smt. Zahida Khan (Former DDC), Sheikh Mujeeb Ali (Ex-District President PDP-Doda) and Shafeeq Ahmed Mir (President All J&K Panchayat Conference). These leaders expressed gratitude to Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi for admitting them in to the Congress party and assured the PCC leadership to work for strengthen the party and its policies & programmes. They said that they have realized that the mood of the people in all three regions is to further strengthen the Congress party in the state, in order to defeat the communal and divisive forces, whose designs can be defeated by a secular force like Congress.
Newly elected Deputy Leader of Congress Legislature Party Mohammad Sharief Naiz -MLA and Shri Madan Lal Sharma-MP also briefly spoke and welcomed them. Mr. Ravinder Sharma-MLC, General Secretary and Spokesman conducted the proceedings, while most of the prominent leaders were present on the occasion. Prominent among them were Shri. Dharam Pal Sharma, Thakur Hari Singh, S. Gurmukh Singh, Prem Sagar Aziz, District President Om Chopra, Mula Ram, Smt. Indu Pawar, Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC), Shahnawaz Choudhary (PYC), Rani Gargi Balloria-MLC, Swaran Lata, Kuldeep Raj Verma, Prakash Sharma, Ch. Shah Mohd., Ch. Zaffarullah, Kanta Bhan, Ashok Sharma, Balwan Singh-Ex MLA, Shiv Dev Singh-Ex MLA, Girdhari Lal Chalotra-Ex MLA, S. Arvinder Singh Micky, B. S. Pathania, D.S.Langeh, Manmohan Singh, Krishan Lal Gupta, Darshan Raina and many others attended the function.
