Festivities of Eid-ul-Azha highlighted 10/22/2013 12:07:00 AM Jammu,Oct 21: A programme was organized in the multipurpose hall of Govt. College of Education, canal road, Jammu to celebrate Eid-al-Azha. The program was inaugurated by the principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Kaushal Smotra.While speaking on occasion Dr. Smotra expressed her views about the festival and said that Eid al-Azha is a significant annual Islamic observance for Muslim communities across the globe. It is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice or Festival of Sacrifice as it commemorates Ibrahim's (Abraham) willingness to sacrifice his son to God. Eid al-Azha is also a time for many Muslims to make donations to the poor and the needy. The programs also show cased some cultural events on national harmony performed by student participants of the college. The program was attended by College faculty members and non teaching staff along with students of both B.Ed and M.Ed courses. The stage was anchored by Prof. Rubina Yasmeen and at the end she also delivered vote of thanks. The program was coordinated by NSS program coordinator Prof. Ashu Jolly.
