JAMMU, Oct 21: Annual inter-college men's handball tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu, got underway on the campus, here today.
The competition was declared open by the Dean Academic Affairs (DAA), Prof Neelam Saraf, who was chief guest. She was introduced with the participants by Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau. In view of failure of the teams to report the venue, all the scheduled matches ended in walkovers. However, two leading teams of Government MAM College and GGM Science College played a friendly match.
Earlier, in today's scheduled matches, GGM Science College got walkover RK Degree College while MAM College awarded walkover after Government Degree College (GDC) failed to report the venue.
In another scheduled match, both GDC Samba and Trikuta Degree College could not turn up the venue. Now, as per the organizers, the next round of the competition shall take place on October 24 at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the inter-college women's wrestling meet, which was postponed due to some unavoidable circumstance, shall now take place on October 24 at Gymnasium Hall of the JU at 10 am. |
