Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 26: Expressing concerns over plight of border people following g the heavy firing along International Border (IB) from across the border by Pakistan, Ch Manmohan Singh, President All India Jat Mahasabha, J&K asserted border people have no one to seek help to so they (the political leaders) are claiming. He said this after a visit to border people affected in areas of Nanga, Dhagg, Avtal, Nathowal, Jerda and Nandpur in samba sector. Accompanied with senior office bearers, Ch Manmohan Singh held meetings at Dhagg and Jerda village, where people apprised him of their daily problems caused due to heavy firing from Pakistan. "The plight of border people is worsening with each passing day as earlier rains and floods have ruined their routine life, he said. President Jat Mahasabha said Govt has not yet been able to control the border situation through talks or other measures and alleged it also had failed to help these people. After listening to problems of border people, Ch Manmohan Singh appealed to Govt to provide them a safe place to stay and food during crisis. Besides this he also reminded the Govt about 'cabinet decision' dtd 18/07/02, providing people living within 8km of International border area to be granted RBA status. He also appealed for a special package for the border and flood affected area people a sort of compensation and relief to these people. President Jat Mahasabha also assured the people to take up matter with concerned quarters. During this visit, he alongwith other office bearers also visited Babu Balwant Singh, a senior jat leader, who has been unwell for sometime and enquired about his health, at his residence.
