| Give a freehand to Army, urge the border people | | 'Enough is enough' | | Rustam
JAMMU, Oct 26: Some people still say that it is the low-intensity proxy war that is going on in Jammu & Kashmir. It is not a proxy war. It is a full-scale war unleashed by Pakistan on Jammu & Kashmir and the war is going on Since January this year, when the Pakistani barbarians intruded in the Mendhar sector and butchered and decapitated our two soldiers and took away the head of one of the martyred soldiers. Ever since then, Pakistan has been violating the LoC, which was hitherto called ceasefire line, and killing our soldiers and paramilitary forces personnel and unarmed innocent civilians. The situation worsened after the so-called man of peace Mian Nawaz Sharif took over as Pakistan Prime Minister in June this year. The situation has worsened to the extent that the Pakistani Army and Rangers, ably backed by terrorist outfits, have now started violating the International Border to cause deaths in the Hindu-dominated belt. During the past ten days or so, the Pakistani Army, which has virtually replaced the rangers along the International Border, have violated the International Border more than 50 times and targeted not jut the Army and BSP posts, but also our villages along the International Border. On Friday alone, the Pakistani Army targeted at least 16 posts and caused injuries to at least nine people, including women and small kids. They have been shifted to hospital for treatment. The Pakistani army has been targeting the civilian population and their houses and the result has been that a number of civilians, including even small kids, have suffered serious injuries. Not just this, hundreds of border people have migrated to safer places to escape the Pakistani wrath. The border people are seething with anger. They are angry more with the Government of India than Pakistan and its Army and rangers. They are condemning the authorities in New Delhi and holding them squarely responsible for their plight and the state of uncertainty caused by the Pakistani incessant firing and shelling. They are saying that the "chicken-hearted" authorities in Delhi have tied the hands of the Army and paramilitary forces and not allowing them to teach Pakistan a lesson. They want the Government of India to realize the situation as it prevails along the International Border and act accordingly. Enough is enough, they are saying. Pakistan must be decimated, they also saying. They are saying that the Indian Army is quite capable of decimating Pakistan and bemoaning that the "indifferent attitude of the authorities at the Centre has emboldened Pakistan to step up anti-India activities". So much so, they are saying that "Pakistan is waging a religious war". Indeed, the situation is alarming. The Government ofIndia must appreciate the sentiments of the border people and give the Army a freehand to deal with the situation in an appropriate manner. The policy of reaction has already proved counter-productive; India has to behave like the State of Israel behaves to defend its territorial integrity and promote its sovereign interests. |
