| Omar's belated heroics, goes to last village on IB | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah threw caution to winds yesterday and went up to the Zero Line on the IB to meet people. Omar took the risk probably in response to allegations of failing the border villages in times of trouble. The daring tour won him the title of first Chief Minister to visit the Zero Line and hat too in times of shelling. Other Chief Ministers including his father, Dr Farooq Abdullah and grandfather, Sher-e-Kashmir never dared to venture into the troubled area. While Sher-e-Kashmir was too old to undertake the visits, Dr Farooq chose to fire paper missiles on Pakistan from Srinagar and Jammu. Fortunately nobody in New Delhi and Islamabad took him seriously and the two countries lived lik good neighbours during his times. It is said Omar dodged the Pakistan rangers by abandoning his vehicles to reach the zero line. But what would happen had the rangers spotted him? |
