SRINAGAR, Oct 26: Despite enjoying huge salary and other attractive emoluments an appreciable number of the legislators owe a huge amount as fees to the Power Development Department (PDD) since they have not paid the electricity arrears for a good period of time.
According to the information made available by Power Development Department (PDD) the legislators owe Rs. 17,44,915 towards the department on account of power dues.
Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party, Muzaffar Hussain Beigh is the major defaulter of PDD. Beigh owes Rs. 8, 10,979 to the PDD and it seems that he has forgotten to pay the electricity arrears.
Former Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister and MLA Khan Sahib, Hakim Mohammad Yasin comes second on the list of defaulters of PDD with the arrears running into lakhs of rupees. Yasin owes Rs. 6, 82,523 to PDD and he too has forgotten to pay electricity arrears towards PDD.
Former Higher Education Minister and MLA Mahore, Abdul Gani Malik comes next on the list of defaulters. Malik owes Rs. 91,231 towards PDD on account of power dues. Former Minister for Science and Technology and MLA Budgam, Aga Syed Ruhullah is at number four as far as defaulters of PDD are concerned. Ruhullah owes Rs. 54,140 to PDD as electricity dues.
Former Chief Minister and PDP Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is at number five of the defaulters list and he owes Rs. 20,752 as power dues towards the concerned department. Bharatiya Janta Party leader and MLA Nagrota, Jugal Kishore comes next on the list of power defaulters. Jugal owes Rs. 18,922 as electricity arrears towards the PDD.
Congress leader and Chairperson, Social Welfare Board, Khem Lata Wakhloo is at number seven of the PDD defaulters as she owes Rs. 16,683 towards the concerned department. National Conference leader and Chairman, Board for Gujjar & Bakerwal, Bashir Ahmad Naaz is next on the list owing Rs. 11,282 to PDD.
National Conference MLC, Vijay Bakaya owes Rs. 9,564 as electricity dues towards PDD. PDP MLA from Darhal, Chaudhary Zulfiqar Ali owes Rs. 6,573 as electricity dues towards the concerned department. MLA Bani, Lal Chand owes Rs. 4,654 as electricity arrears towards PDD. MLA Habba Kadal and Chairperson, State Commission for Women, Shameema Firdous is next on the list owing Rs. 4,398 towards PDD as electricity dues.
MLC Rani Bloeria owes Rs. 3,318 as electricity arrears towards PDD. BJP MLA, Ashok Khajuria comes next on the list as he owes Rs. 3,269 towards PDD as electricity dues. MLA Radhay Sham Sharma owes Rs. 2,596 towards PDD as electricity arrears. MLA Charanjeet Singh is next on the list owing Rs. 1,433 towards PDD as electricity dues. MLC Subhash Chander Gupta owes Rs. 1,123 as electricity arrears towards PDD.
BJP legislators Bharat Bhushan, Durga Dass and Jagdish Raj Sapolia owe Rs. 572, Rs. 493 and Rs. 410 respectively as electricity dues towards PDD. |
