| Three years RI to driver after 10 years trial | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26(JNF): Chief Judicial Magistrate Jammu SR Gandhi today awarded there years rigorous imprisonment to one Gopal Krishan driver of matador who rashly and negligently caused the death one person. According to the police case that on January 14, 2004 the accused Gopal Krishan s/o Bodh Raj driver of matador in a rash and negligent driving the hit the scooterist and due to the accident scooterist namely Rajinder Singh died in the hospital and a case was registered u/s 304-A RPC and after completion of the investigation presented challan. CJM Jammu SR Gandhi today after hearing CPO Sanjay Kohli with senior PO Rajeshwar Basotra appearing for the state observed that prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt that accused while driving the matador in a rash and negligent manner at the public place caused the death of one Rajinder Singh scooterist. CJM SR Gandhi while awarding three years RI to driver observed that a tendency has grown amongst the drivers to run away after the accident rather than taking care of the injured by shifting in the nearby hospital for the timely medical aid which may save the precious life of the victim but showing disregard to the humanitarian approach, the drivers tend to flee from the justice depriving the victims of even the benefit of social legislation for claiming the compensation. Such a trend needs to be curved strictly and the violators brought to justice. Public roads and now swamped reckless drivers who have no regards for the safety of others. Such drivers have added further threat to already overcrowd roads. With these observations court awarded three years RI and fine Rs 1000/- to accused. |
