Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 26: On the occasion of 66th Accession Day of the State, ABVP celebrated the occasion by organizing ceremonial programme at the Shaheedi Chowk Kathua. The programme started by laying wreaths at the statue and obeisance by ABVP leaders and workers. Several people from also joined the party programme as a mark of their respect to late Maharaja. It was organized by Kathua District ABVP under its state joint secy Rahul Dev Sharma. State secy Ragav Sharma, demanded that the "Accession Day" on 26 October should be declared a state holiday and in lieu of it, a notification be issued cancelling the holiday of so-called Martyrs Day on 13 July, which is unconstitutional because when India's official Martyrs Day on 30 January marking death anniversary of the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi is not a holiday, how has National Conference govt. declared 13 July a Martyrs Day holiday. He said those who say there was accession but no merger of J&K, are not clear in their concept because Instrument of Merger did not apply to J&K. State joint secy Rahul Dev Sharma said that every activists of the party, irrespective of his or her post, should get well acquainted with the legal and constitutional parameters of the accession and reach the masses to present the real facts of the same. He said that the ABVP commitment for the honour of people like Maharaja Hari Singh can be well judged. |
