SRINAGAR, Oct 26: J&K Bank has played a key role in economic development of all the regions of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. A large network of business units and ATMs across the length and breadth of state speaks volumes as to how deeply this proud institution of the state is connected with the people of the state.
This was stated by Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies, while speaking at a function of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Leh.
Congratulating the bank on its Platinum Jubilee, Jora while appreciating the progress of the bank said, "Bank has touched lofty heights over the decades especially during the past 25 years. Comparative facts and figures speak volumes about the journey of progress the bank has made since its golden Jubilee year", he said.
Hailing Bank's role in generating direct as well as indirect employment opportunities for the youth of the state, Jora lauded the Bank for being main source of employment in Ladakh.
While appreciating the leadership qualities of Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman & CEO, J&K Bank, Jora said, "Present Chairman has brought more humility and a sense of responsibility in this flagship company of the state. Since he understands the system and has a vast experience in the field of banking, most of the best things in the history of J&K Bank have happened during his term".
Referring to logo of the bank, Minister said, "Vibrant colours of the logo of J&K Bank not only speak about the philosophy of the bank, but also represent three regions of the state and as such convey that Bank's connection with people is both physical and psychological".
Earlier in his welcome address, Mushtaq Ahmad, Chairman & CEO, J&K Bank expressed his gratitude to the people and government of J&K for their continued support to J&K Bank. "The unflinching support and trust of people of the state has been the main force behind surpassing targets and achieving milestones. State government's patronage and support has contributed a lot in making this institution what it is today", he said.
He added, "In 1947 we lost two branches, however timely support of Rs 6 lakh by the then Prime Minister of J&K Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah infused new blood in the bank".
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by Abdul Hamid Banday, Bank's Executive President. He thanked the Chief Guest, dignitaries and customers for taking time off to join J&K Bank family in the Platinum Jubilee Celebratory function.
