| Unprovoked firing by Pakistan at borders condemned, protest held | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 26: All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) today expressed its concern over the unprovoked firing and mortar shelling by Pakistan along the Borders of Jammu in a meeting held under the chairmanship of party chief Dr AK Kharu at Vijaypur. While addressing the meeting Dr. Kharu said that the people living near the International border have become homeless and these helpless people are terrified and scores of them have got injured by the firing of Pakistani Rangers. Dr. Kharu further added that the Government at the Centre led by Dr. Manmohan Singh has not been giving heed towards the problems being faced by the locals. He alleged that Congress and BJP are plying vote bank politics on this issue. Dr. Kharu urged upon the Central government to take a tough stand against Pakistan so that it stops the Cease Fire Violation and also appealed the State Government led by. Omar Abdullah to come to the rescue of these people who are shattered due to Pakistan firing and these people should be given proper shelter and appropriate relief. The prominent among others present in the meeting were Rajan Padri, Chaju Ram, Harbajan Singh and Vikram Chand. Meanwhile, University unit of National Secular Forum (NSF) held a protest rally on Saturdayin Jammu against the firing and shelling by Pakistani troops on the border areas of Jammu for the last 10 days. The protesters said that the situation in Jammu was very "critical" and demanded a strong action against Pakistan for cease fire violations. Sukhdev Singh President NSF said the state government should establish camps in border areas and also accommodate those who have been affected due to regular firing by Pakistan. "It is the duty of the government to accommodate and rehabilitate those who have been affected in border firing. Some people have started migrating from these areas and government should accommodate them in safer places", he said. |
