| 16 domestic LPG cylinders seized, 5 others booked by Legal Metrology | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 28: Continuing with their efforts to stop illegal use of subsidized LPG Gas cylinders at commercial establishments, a joint team of Legal Metrology department and representative of oil companies led by Joint controller Legal Metrology Amar singh, Deputy controller Consumer protection Manoj Prabhakar & Sr Sales officer of HPCL Anees Quari conducted extensive checking of commercial establishments at Nanak nagar, Bahu plaza & Apsra road. More than 30 establishments dealing in Hotels, restaurants, sweetshops, halwais & road side food venders were checked & 16 cylinders were seized on the spot from thirteen establishments which were using it in commercial purposes. All the seized cylinders were handed over to the respective oil companies with the direction to cancel all the domestic connections which are being utilized for commercial establishments & detail enquiry be conducted to ascertain the distributor feeding to such establishments & strict action be taken against the defaulter. The team also inspected M/s Imperial grill, M/s Café coffee day, M/s Nescafe, M/s Barista, M/s Lakshya garments & other establishments dealing with serving of food to the consumers & a readymade garments store & five cases were booked by Inspector Mohisin Khateeb for different violations under the existing provisions of law enforced for the purpose for not marking mandatory declarations as prescribed under rules. The department have warned the traders not to indulge in unlawful activities to cheat the gullible consumers & consumers are also advised to be cautious before investing their hard earned money. |
