JAMMU, Oct 28: The visiting teams from Chandigarh, Delhi and Guwahati today registered emphatic wins in strengthen position in their respective pools in the ongoing Eid-Diwali Milan Twenty20 Cricket Cup at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Chandigarh XI defeated Kathua Sports XI by seven wickets. Batting first, Kathua Sports XI scored 106 runs in allotted 16 overs for loss of seven wickets with Arvind (32) Prashant (14) and Arun(13) being main scorers. Hardeep took three wickets and Sandeep bagged two from Kathua.
In reply, Chandigarh XI achieved the target in 12 overs losing only three wickets. Sandeep was main scorer with 34 runs, followed by Lalit and Vishal, who contributed 23 and 22 runs respectively. Arvind, Mayank and Ankush shared apiece each from Kathua. Sandeep declared man of the match.
In another match, Delhi XI scripted a five win against Mumbai XI. Earlier, batting first Mumbai made 153 runs for nine wickets. Abishek Sharma (33), Aamir Malik (29) and Nishant Rana (27) were main scorers. Akash and Vijay took three wickets each while Rahul bagged two from Mumbai XI.
Batting second, Mumbai could not achieve the target and could make 97 runs for five wickets. Sachin Rathor (33), Vijay Shindey (13), Rahul (12) remained maximum scorers.
Third match of the day won by Guwahati, who outplayed another North Eastern team of Meghalaya by five wickets.
FIXTURE: Punjab to face Challenger XI at 8 am; Kathua Sports to meet Guwahati at 11 am; Meghalaya shall take on Chandigarh XI at 2 pm tomorrow. |
