J&K climbers leave to join NZ team

JAMMU, Oct 28: Two J&K climbers, Shilpa Charak and Kumari Bindia Sharma, who are part of the North Zone sport climbing team, along with manager-cum-coach, Shawetica Khajuria were given send off by the Mountaineering Association of J&K, here.
The Inter-Zone National Championship is being organized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), South Zone Committee at Kanteerva Stadium, Bangalore.
While Shilpa Charak, who is expected to be among the medalists, shall compete in Lead climbing only, her team mate Kumari Bindia Sharma has been selected to participate in Lead as well as Speed climbing competitions.
Earlier before their departure from Jammu, Shilpa and Bindia were accorded an emotional send-off by members of the Association and young climbers. They wished the climbers success at the National Championship.
Prominent among others present on the occasion included secretary of the Association, Ram Khajuria, vice president, Yogeshwar Kumar, Sonam Sidharth, Abhimanyu Khajuria and parents of the climbers.
