SRINAGAR, Oct 29: As winter begins to set in Kashmir Valley, weatherman has predicted snowfall in the higher reaches and rains in some parts during the next two days.
"We are expecting light rain in the plains and light snowfall in the higher reaches of the Valley during the next two days," a MeT department official said.
The official said mercury across the Valley dipped by a few notches owing to overcast conditions.
Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir was the coldest with a low of 0.1 degrees Celsius, he said.
Srinagar recorded a minimum of 3.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Qaizgund (2.6), Gulmarg (1.4) and Kupwara (1.2), the official said.
"The minimum temperatures are likely to fall three to four degrees below normal during the next two days," he said.
The high altitude areas of Kashmir Valley received light snowfall on Sunday, prompting people to take out their woollens to escape the biting cold during wee hours.
