| Deptt of Tourism pokes into Agriculture Department's nose | | Saffron Festival | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 29: The department of Tourism is going overboard in promoting Kashmir and everything associated with it, often crossing its domain and mandate.
This time the department jumped into the department of agriculture and started promoting saffron of Kashmir valley.
The saffron festival was organized by the Department of Tourism and department of agriculture jointly at Dusoo Pampore and IUST Awantipora in district Pulwama with a slogan of celebrating the saffron bloom.
While promoting Saffron was the job of department of agriculture to organize the festival but the department of tourism offered unasked for help.
It is a fact that saffron of Kishtwar is considered superior than that of Pampore but it has never been promoted by the government. Neither agriculture department nor tourism department has ever organized a show to promote the saffron of Kishtwar.
Similarly, the saffron being cultivated in upper reaches of Udhampur district is also considered better quality saffron. Though it has come up due to the efforts of Agriculture Department but Tourism Department has never shown any inclination towards promoting it.
The Director Tourism Jammu only does public relation exercise of valley politicians who have put him at this post and never concentrates on the promotion of specialties and uniqueness of Jammu. |
