| Cong capable enough to fight elections alone in JK: Vakil | | | Early Times Report RAFIABAD, Oct 29: Member AICC and Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that it is the high command which will finalize the alliance strategy of Congress party after consultations with the PCC for forthcoming Parliament and Assembly elections in the state and it is premature to comment on the issue at this point of time. He said that Congress has been able to broaden its base in all the three regions as people have now understood the agenda of regional parties, which only aims at political gains rather on betterment, development and prosperity. Vakil said that Congress is now capable enough to fight elections all alone and its developmental mantra will help the party to emerge as a single largest party in the forthcoming elections. He insisted the party functionaries to get united and work for betterment of party as well as common masses. Vakil was addressing a public meeting at Reban Rafiabad in District Baramulla. While addressing the gathering, Vakil said that Government must do away with its dilly dally tactics in respect of incorporation of 73rd Amendment for empowering Panchayats in the State. He said that inordinate delay is regrettable and a big impediment in way of developmental activities. Delay in empowering basic units of democracy will render Panchayat Elections meaningless and waste of resources, Vakil added. Describing the corruption as biggest enemy of the State, Vakil said surfacing of recent bungling in MNREGA has put a question mark on the tall claims of this Government and urged the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the issue as spending money under this programme has not benefited the deserved one despite uninterrupted flow of funds from the Central Government. |
