| Rally on biodiversity conservation held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 29: Department of Botany, GCW Gandhi Nagar, organized a massive rally within the College campus on Biodiversity conservation. The aim of the rally was to show the concern about human threats to the biodiversity and to pledge conserving all forms of natural resources ensuring survival on this planet and healthy heritage. In the rally students were holding posters and slogans on various aspects of biodiversity conservation such as-keep campus clean and green; save natural resources; and protect endangered species like tiger etc. Speaking on the occasion, Principal Kiran Bakshi stressed to maintain ecological balance in every nook and corner so as to ensure survival of mankind. Kuldeep Singh, HoD Botany, stressed to keep science laboratories clean by adopting the habit of disposing waste generated during the practical; and dispose the waste comprising plastic wrappers, paper plates etc., in the dustbin which otherwise are found scattered. Rally went around whole of the campus and student participants in the rally advocated the message of conservation of natural resources to all other colleagues also. Students also pledged to carry the message at their respective places of living and organize mohalla committees to take care of the natural resources. |
