Demands citizenship rights, right to vote for PoK Refugees

Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 29: Expressing deep sympathies with the families of those killed in Patna serial blasts, BJP Member of Parliament & J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna said that the blasts were the result of Bihar government's lack of will to take timely and effective steps to ensure adequate security arrangements in view of the specific alert sent to the Bihar police by the Intelligence Bureau on October 23 as well as the pre-announced participation of the BJP stalwarts and party's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi in the "Hunkaar Rally".
He stressed upon the Union Home Ministry to immediately review the security of Narendra Modi.
He was addressing a press conference here today.
He also reiterated party's demand for a high level enquiry to look into the lapses which led to series of bomb blasts in Patna on Sunday.
Khanna blamed forces opposed to BJP's anti-terrorism stand for the blasts at Patna and demanded strict vigil on Indian Mujahideen (IM).
He also expressed concern over delay in granting basic rights, compensation and other benefits to the refugees of West Pakistan, PoK and others, who have been agitating for more than 60 years now but the successive deaf governments in the state never heard their cries.
Khanna, who, alongwith other leaders, is undertaking "Refugees Adhikaar Yatra" in Jammu province, said that while refugee like Manmohan Singh can become Prime Minister of India, three generations of lakhs of other refugees have perished demanding citizenship rights, right to vote, compensations of the properties left in PoK.
They are being subjected to discrimination and injustice for none of their crime, which is indeed very unfortunate.
Khanna also lambasted the Congress-led UPA and the NC-Congress coalition in the state for adopting a complete silence on the situation on borders, where our neighbour country Pakistan has led a proxy war for the last over two decades.
Pakistan never honour any cease-fire agreement and indulge in unprovoked firing which results into killing of innocent civilians besides personal of army and para-military forces.
He assured that the BJP will continue to extent support and raise the voice of refugees and border people at every appropriate forum.
