Jammu, Oct 29 : Kashmiri Pandits living in valley have called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to openly facilitate sale of temple lands in Kashmir and give incentives to bureaucrats and officers of the government who have indulged in blatant loot of properties of Hindu shrines and temples across Kashmir. In an open letter to the chief minister, KPSS, an organization of Kashmiri pandits writes, " Being dim-witted KPSS have filed countless representations and applications before the persons who are at helm of affairs in your esteemed regime with the request to take necessary steps for the preservation and protection of temples and its endowment properties in Kashmir Valley and in addition to that have unfortunately succeeded in getting number directions by the intervention of Hon'ble High Court of J&K for the same. Despite the intervention of Hon'ble High Court and its directions, temple land mafia with the help of bureaucrats and Police Officers are encroaching, selling and damaging the temples properties in Kashmir. These bureaucrats and Police Officers take active participation in these acts by facilitating the malicious designs of temple land mafia in return to some benefits that your government provides them." Quoting a recent incident of encroachment of temple land allegedly with the connivance of officers of police and civil administration, the letter narrates, "Recently one Nassirulla Khan son of Mohammad Sadiq resident of Hamdania Colony Shanpura, Srinagar illegally encroached the temple land belonging to Shri Sanatan Dharam Pratap Sabha on the midnight of 12th-13th October at around 1:00 AM at Tulsi Bagh Srinagar with the help of some top brass bureaucrats.
