| Speak India organizes 'no crackers' campaign | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 30: Activist of SIEF Speak India Environmental Foundation of Jammu District organized a awareness program to celebrate pollution less Diwali by saying 'No to Crackers' at Shanti Sawroop Public Jammu Hr Sec School Jammu. The campaign was organized under the president ship of Manmohan Kumar Distt President of SIEF in which students of the host school, members of different NGO's and prominent citizens participated. The program started by lighting the traditional lamp. Chairman of the organization presented welcome address and spoke on the various ill effects of the crackers which destroy peace as well the eco balance of the atmosphere. During the program Deepa Sharma coordinator of the SIEF said children should celebrate pollution free Deepawali as it is a festival of light but not of pollution. Speakers said the toxic gases released by the crackers are harmful to the mankinds as well as the whole flaura and fauna. Renowned social worker Mahesh Padha and young environmentalist namely Arpana Gupta and Vasundra Pandita also exhorted student community not burst Crackers but celebrates Deepawali with lights and sharing sweets. In the end students/NGOs heads/teacher fraternity administrated an oath not to go for crackers on this Diwali to save the environment. Naresh kumar Executive Member of the SIEF, Vinay Khajuria, Ganesh Sharma Distt Vice President, Sachin Gupta Secretary and Ashwani Sharma were also present. |
