| Yet another bad news for the Congress | | Pre-poll survey | | Rustam JAMMU, Oct 30: Indeed, a very strong anti-Congress wave is sweeping the country. The findings of the pre-poll survey, which was conducted by the CSDS between October 14 and 21 for news channel IBN7 and THE WEEK magazine in the poll bound states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan clearly suggest that while the BJP has become the popular choice, the Congress has lost the people's confidence. On October 28, the IBN7 broadcasted the findings of the pre-poll survey conducted in MP and Rajasthan, which clearly said that the BJP will not only win the assembly elections in these two states for the third time in a row but would also improve its position. In MP, according to the pre-poll survey, the BJP will win 148 to 160 seats in the 230-member House and the Congress will win 52 to 62 seats. In 2008, the BJP's tally was 143 and the Congress's 71. As for Chhattisgarh, the pre-poll survey said that the BJP will win 61 to 71 seats in the 90-member House and the Congress's tally would be between 16 and 24. In 2008, the BJP's tally was 50 and that of the Congress 38. Yesterday, the IBN7 broadcasted the survey findings for Rajasthan. The pre-poll survey said that the BJP will win 115 to 125 seats in the 200-member House if elections are held now. In 2008, the Congress had defeated the BJP and won 98 seats. The BJP's tally was 78. In other words, the BJP will increase its tally by almost 50 per cent. As for the Congress, the pre-poll survey said that it will win only 60 to 68 seats. In other words, it will lose more than 30 seats. Other findings of the pre-poll survey said that Rajasthan BJP president and the party's Chief Ministerial candidate Vasundhara Raje is the choice of 51 per cent of the popular voters in the state and that only 27 per cent of the eligible voters in Rajasthan want him lead the government. It's huge difference. Not just this, the pre-poll survey also says that the BJP this time will get 9 per cent more votes as compared to the Congress and this obviously is a very huge difference. All this shows that the Congress has lost its sheen and appeal and that the people are turning towards the BJP. It is for the Congress leadership to look back and find why are the people deserting it and pinning faith in the BJP? |
