| Joining of Dr Harmesh Singh: PDP all out to spoil NC's chances in Jammu district | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 30: Joining of Dr Harmesh Singh Slathia in People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is a clear indication that desertion from ruling National Conference has started and those feeling suffocated in the party have started looking for other options.
While joining Congress on October 21, Mohammad Aslam Goni had stated that a large number of dedicated NC workers are feeling suffocated and they are looking for other options.
Dr Harmesh Singh is not a known political figure but he had played important role in ensuring victory of NC candidate from Vijaypur segment. He has following among people and his decision to quit the party is a big blow to the NC. Enthusiasm among those who joined PDP today is a clear indication that they would spoil chances of NC candidate to retain the prestigious seat.
Interestingly Singh has quitted the party on the same day when a NC stalwart has predicted that PDP would be trifurcated very soon.
PDP in a well calculated move has been targeting only those constituencies of Jammu region where NC has some chances of win. Vijaypur is the constituency where PDP has been utilizing all its energy. Already some prominent persons from this segment have joined the party.
Marh, Bishnah and Nagrota are other three constituencies where PDP has been concentrating especially to ensure defeat of NC candidates in the coming Assembly elections.
PDP has reason to concentrate only on those constituencies where NC candidates have chances to win. Party is particular to ensure defeat of NC candidates from these seats.
PDP has already produced a tough challenge before NC in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri and now party has started spoiling chances of NC in Jammu district also. In the last assembly elections, NC had won only Vijaypur seat from Jammu district but party had scored second position in Marh and Nagrota. Party candidates have also secured good number of votes in Suchetgarh segment.
This time NC is also eying on Bishnah segment because runner of the last Assembly election from this segment has joined the party. To spoil chances of NC from this seat, PDP has already roped in Yash Pal Bhagat, who was NC candidate from this seat in 2008 assembly elections. |
