| Shafiq Mir re-elected as AJKPC chairman | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 30: Shafiq Mir has been reelected as All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) chairman with a voice vote by the general body members of AJKPC in a meeting of panchayat members held at Srinagar on Wednesday. Mir had earlier resigned from the post of chairmanship soon after he had joined Congress on October 15, however, his resignation was not accepted by the organization and the decision in this regard was referred executive body of AJKPC members. However, on Wednesday, a general body meeting of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference was convened by the organization at Srinagar in which all the participants reposed their faith in the leadership on Shafiq Mir and asked him to continue as chairman of the organization saying that his decision of joining Congress was acceptable to them and he can contribute more after being member of the Congress party. On this occasion, the Panchayat members also appreciated the role of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi and JKPCC chief Prof. Saif-u-Din Soz . After being elected as Chairman of the organization, Shafiq Mir announced major reshuffle in the organization as per the performance of the existing leaders of the organization. As per the decision taken in the general body meeting, Anil Sharma was nominated president AJKPC and Imtiaz Afzal Beig as general secretary, Ghulam Hassan Panzoo will continue work as spokesman. Two separate provincial units were also announced on this occasion. Bashir Ahmed Malik been made provincial president Kashmir while Aftab Ahmed Beig Vice president, Ghulam Mohammad Raina as secretary. For Jammu division, Goutem Singh Jamwaal was elected provincial president Jammu division, Raj Kumar Vice president, Madan Lal as secretary Jammu division. However, Bimla Devi shall continue as provincial president of woman wing in Jammu division. All these changes were approved by the members of general body of AJKPC . While expressing his thanks to the Panchayat members , Shafiq Mir chairman AJKPC said that he will continue his fight with more strength for the empowerment of Panchayats in the state. |
