| NHPC transmission line develops snag: Kishtwar plunges into darkness | | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Oct 30: Power supply in Kishtwar district got suspended since early Tuesday morning and is likely to be restored by Thursday afternoon resulting inconvenience to the masses in shape of water scarcity and gearing normal life late evening life out of gear. "Besides these the power problem also hit the 12 class student community (Winter Zone) as circumstantially forced darkness put spokes into their studies and students failed to give final touch to their preparations for today's paper, reports said. According to the reports from Kishtwar, due to technical snag developed in 132 KV Transmission Line at Seo Gwari the power supply to Kishtwar district was suspended by the TLMD Division Udhampur till the Clarence of the transmission line by the NHPC. As per officials in PDD Kishtwar, the technical snag was reported after a huge tree fell on the transmission line. The officials said that the temporary power will be restored in next two to three days. The said transmission line is maintained by NHPC, though the government of India accorded section to double circuit transmission line for Kishtwar under PMRP yet the same was has to be completed even after the deadline for completion of the work on said transmission line expired in 2010. The locals have questioned the working of NHPC and added that NHPC authorities fail to keep round the clock vigil on this transmission line so as to take precaution in advance. The people urge the government functionaries to expedite the work on 132 KV double circuit transmission line and fix the responsibility on the contractors as well as the staff members deputed by the department for the work on said transmission line. This transmission line after completion will provide electricity to Kishtwar grid from Baghliar HEP. Ironically Kishtwar District which is hub of power projects including mega projects of 6000 MW are coming up in Kishtwar District including 1200 MW Budsar, 1000 MW Pakal-Dool, 850 MW Rattle, 590 MW Kirru, 590 MW Kwar and other many power projects identified by the government for execution bit the people of Kishtwar still remains eluded from the power supply time and again. |
