| JK witnesses poor governance : PDP | | | early times report Jammu, Oct 30: Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Shishu Gandotra has said that people in Jammu and Kashmir State, during past five years have witnessed poor governance which is evident from their ever falling footfall in government offices. The governance has reached at lowest ebb and powers that were supposed to be decentralized have been confined to select few due to which people were feeling alienated. "Change" is what people are craving for and that is only possible if PDP is given an opportunity, Shishu Gandotra said while seeking support for party candidate from Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency Yash Pal Sharma. He said that elections to Municipal Corporations are no where in sight, Panchayats have not been empowered, BDC polls stands postponed, unemployment graph is on rise and there is no sign of people's participation in development works. He said in the victory of Yash Pal Sharma, PDP patron's hands will be strengthened and party cadres will get a fillip. This victory will also pave way for PDP to sail smoothly in coming assembly elections scheduled for 2014. Shishu Gandotra urged party leaders and workers to strengthen the hands of party patron and take the campaign down up to block as well as ward level so that people are apprised about party policies. In a few months from now, people would be deciding their own fate and if PDP is given a chance, it will definitely come up to expectations of people. Shishu Gandotra said in absence of rapid industrial growth, educated unemployed youth are not able to get jobs. The Government, he said cannot employ all the youth but the avenues it was supposed to create have also not been taken care of. This all was creating an unrest amongst masses who are now heading towards other states which is a loss to the state. This brain drain from our state will sternly affect our economic growth. He regretted that no efforts were made to rope in industrial houses to set up in Jammu and Kashmir State. There were many software companies which if made to make their presence in Jammu and Kashmir State would have created wonders and also generated enough employment avenues for out youth. Since our state's poor infrastructure was not capable enough to support big industrial units, we could have done wonders in tourism sector which too has not been exploited to its full potential, Shishu Gandotra said. He hoped that people will help Yash Pal Sharma win hands down so that fate of people could be changed and development given new dimensions in Jammu and Kashmir State. |
