Sports Reporter JAMMU, Nov 9: Semifinals position has been cleared in women's section with the entry of Government College for Women (GCW) Gandhi Nagar, Army Public School (APS) Badi Bari, Post Graduate (PG) Departments of University of Jammu and Trikuta Club in last four stages of the Jammu District Volleyball Championship got underway at MA Stadium, here today. Now, in the semifinals, scheduled for tomorrow, GCW Gandhi Nagar shall take on APS Badi Bari while Trikuta Club shall meet PG Departments from 11:30 am onwards. Similarly, in men's section first round of the competition took place wherein APS Domana, Trikuta Club, Government Higher Secondary School, Bishnah qualified for the next round. Earlier, the competition was declared open by Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jammu-Kathua range, Shakeel Ahmed Beg, who was chief guest. President Volleyball Association of J&K, Raj Daluja presided. Speaking to the participating teams, DIG lauded the organizers for channelising the energies of the youth in right direction. Among others present were president Jammu District Volleyball Association, Manmeet Singh Aman, vice-president of J&K Volleyball Association, Subash Sharma, Dr Brij Baloria, Ranjeet Kalara, Sudarshan Gupta and Sidharth Daluja. Earlier, organising secretary of the tournament, Ramesh Chander Sharma and general secretary of the Volleyball Association of J&K, Kuldeep Magotra well come distinguished gathering. Today's matches were officiated by the technical penal including Amarjeet Singh, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Jatinderpaul Singh, Jewan Sanjan, Wasim and Ajay Sharma. The Detailed Results: MEN: APS Domana beat APS Bidi Bari 2-1 (23-25,25-22,15-10); Trikuta Club Jammu Beat Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Purkhu 2-0 (25-11, 25-09); GHSS Bishnah beat Shastri Club 2-0 (25-15, 25-19); GHSS Bishnah beat APS Domana 2-0 (25-21, 25-16). WOMEN: Trikuta Club Jammu beat SPMR Commerce of Commerce 2-0 (25-23,25-21); GCW Gandhi Nagar beat Pinto Club Akhnoor 2-0 (2516, 25-22); PG Departments beat Pinto Club Jammu 2-0 (25- 09, 25-07); APS Badi Bari got walk over Tiger Club. |
