| JKRDCS office sealed, 3 including president arrested, bank account seized | | | Akshay Azad Jammu, Nov 9: Acting on the news story titled "JKRDCS-An NGO sell jobs under nose of authorities", carried by Early Times in its edition of October 22, 2013, Police today sealed the office of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Development Coordinate Society (JKRDCS) located near Gole Pulli Talab Tillo, following protest demonstration lodged by applicants. Moreover, three persons including president of Society was arrested, the Bank account of Society with deposit of Rs. 20 Lakh was seized, while an FIR has been registered. Today afternoon, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party activists led by Vikram Singh visited the office of JKRDCS and staged protest demonstration. They were also joined by applicants assembled outside office to deposit the application forms and the youth who were in possession of appointment orders issued months back. "The JKRDCS is charging Rs. 230 from each candidate for single post and when we enquired from the JKRDCS authorities, they said that around 15000 forms have so far been received and have collected Rs. 30 Lakh so far", Vikram Singh said, adding that several youth informed that they have paid hefty amount to get the job. Amid raising slogans, the protesters also blocked Talab Tillo road for around half an hour but after the assurance of higher police officials, they lifted the blockade. "How appointment letters have been issued before advertisement of appointment letters. The source of funding to society is unknown and why the society is repeatedly extending the date of receipt of application forms, if same has received 15,000 applications", Vikram Singh questioned, adding that for the last many days, they have been receiving the complaints of youth that despite repeated assurances, the JKRCDS authorities were delaying the joining and so was the salary. "An NGO starts getting Government funding after three years of registration but JKRDCS is registered only on September 13, but is claiming to provide employment to around 3,000 youth, instead of unknown source of income", Vikram Singh said. Later SDPO, SHO Nowabad rushed to spot and assured the protesters for taking action. SHO Nowabad, Jaipal Sharma informed that the members of JKRDCS claimed that the Society was registered with Government of India but as per preliminary investigation proved it fake. "The managing committee of JKRDCS comprises of 14 members but so far President of Society, Adil Mustafa Khan and two members Jatinder Kumar of Miran Sahib and Iftakar Ahmed of Bandipora have been arrested", he said. He further informed that around 15,000 forms have so far been received by the Society and have collected more than Rs. 20 Lakh. "The J&K Bank account at Canal road has been seized and an FIR number 179/2013 under sections 419,420 and 120-B has been lodged against the Society", he said. |
