| Court frames corruption charges against SE & Ors | | | Jammu, Nov 9: Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu today has framed charges u/s 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006 and section 120-B RPC against then Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Jammu, then Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division (I) Jammu presently Supdtt Engineer Police Housing Corporation and others including M/S M&Co Bye Pass Road Sidhra for purchase at exorbitant rates of Flournite Concrete Hardener between the years 2003 and 2005 that too without any competition. Additional Sessions Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjay Parihar after hearing both sides i.e. Vigilance Organizations Jammu (VOJ) and counselors of accused observed that the prima-facie grounds for presuming that the accused have committed offence u/s 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) J&K PC Act and section 120-B RPC and directed Senior Prosecuting Officer lead the evidence in support of charges and "Accused namely Devinder Kumar Sharma then Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division Jammu, Tilak Raj Sargotra then Executive Engineer PWD (R&B) Division I Jammu presently Supt Engineer Police Housing Corporation Mahesh Sharma then Assistant Accounts Officer, Suraj Kumar Bamotra then Assistant Accounts Officer, Suppliers S Nazir Ahmed Tramboo, Rajbagh Srinagar, Alla-ud-din Choudhary, Zia-ud-Din Choudhary and Nzair Ahmed Prop M/S M&Co Bye Pass Road Sidhra for purchase at highly exorbitant rates of Flournite Concrete Hardener between the years 2003 and 2005 in Construction Division Ist, Jammu was ordered @ Rs 44/- per Kg. by successive engineers without any competition and even the orders were placed with favourite suppliers to benefit the officials and the suppliers and cause loss to the exchequer, court observed. According to the case an enquiry was conducted into the allegation of purchase on highly exorbitant rates of Flournite Concrete Hardener in the year 2003-2004 by Construction Div-I jammu has revealed that in or around the month of August-September 2003 a criminal conspiracy was hatched by XENs with the contractors with the object of purchasing Flournite Concrete Hardener at highly exorbitant rates to confer undue benefit upon the supplier firms and himself. After completion of the investigation challan was presented in the Court on October 8, 2010. (JNF) |
