| DDC Reasi places AEE, JE under suspension on corruption charges | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Nov 9: District Development Commissioner Dr Shahid Iqbal suspended AEE Surinder Kumar Sharma and JE Jagdish Raj of Rural Engineering Wing after preliminary enquiry was conducted on complaint filed by MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma.
The duo from Rural Engineering Wing has been placed under suspension for demanding and accepting bribe for clearing bill of a construction work, an official spokesperson said. Pertinently MLA Reasi has lodged a formal complaint before the DDC in the matter and original complaint along with supporting documents and affidavits were also submitted. Spokesperson said that after preliminary verification of facts the DDC placed both officials under suspension and attached in the office of Assistant Commissioner Revenue.
According to case an amount of Rs 2.38 Lakhs under Constituency Development Fund of MLA for construction of Road at Panassa.
"As per the complaint AEE and JE demanded bribe of Rs 40,000 for clearing the bill out of which Rs 25,000/ was paid by Prithvi Dass S/O Sakhi Dass in presence of Sudesh Kumar S/O Puran Chand. The complainant alleged that bill is withheld as AEE and JE are demanding remaining 15000, the official statement said.
Following complaint a enquiry committee comprising of Assistant Commissioner Development Joginder Rai, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Tilak Raj Shastri and Executive Engineer PHE Nissar khan has been directed by the DDC to submit the findings of enquiry within a period of two weeks for further action in the matter. |
