| Non-bailable warrants issued against Director DD News | | Defamation case | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Nov 9: A local court here has issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against incumbent director news of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar in case of "defamation and criminal intimidation." The NBW against the director DD, Bashir Ahmad Malik was issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar Rajeev Gupta to secure his presence on next date of hearing (November 29) in a defamation case filed against him by a News Reader-Ghulam Mohammad Parray son of Ali Mohammad of Sonawari. Parray alias Shabnum had approached the court in 2011 with a complaint under RPC sections of 500 (defamation) and 506 (criminal intimidation) against Malik. In his application, Shabnum is learnt to have referred a letter sent by Malik to Prasar Bharti Broadcasting Corporation of India, reportedly levelling serious allegations against him in an attempt to tarnish Shabnum's image in the society. The CJM had summoned Malik in the case in the 2011 but the incumbent directed challenged it before the Sessions Court Srinagar. However, his challenge was rejected by the court while dismissing his review petition on April 28 with the direction to remain present before CJM today. Shabnum has prayed that action should be taken against the accused for defaming his reputation. |
