| JASC salutes spirit of adventure | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 10: The Jammu Adventure Sports Club honoured and flaged off Aditya Mehta an epitome of the spirit of adventure. Inspite of losing a leg above knee in an accident Aditya a Silver Medalist Asian Para Cycling Championship- 2013 is cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. At an impressive function held here at Green Fields School he spoke at length about his achievements which include two silver medals for India at Para Asian Cycling Championship, The Limca Book of Records (2013 Edition) for completing 100km with an artificial leg in 5 and a half hours, Hyderabad to Bangalore (540KM) in 3 days, London to Paris 520 KM 9000 ft. climb in 3 days . In the last 18 months he rode approx. 21,000kms out of which 60+ centuries done in approx. 5hrs. While welcoming the team the chairman of the Club Sandiip A Sethi informed about the clubs activities in promoting adventure sports and cycling. The club has been holding annual cycle rallies since more than a decade. The club will be inviting avid cyclists and promote such events in the state. The function was sponsored by Bee Enn Hospital which announced free eye cataract surgeries and Bone Density tests. Kunil Bhalla founder member of JASC flaged off Aditya Mehta and his team for his onward journey in presence of members Aparna and Vikrant Kuthiala, Neelam Bhalla, Sarla Kohli, Bhavana and Sandiip. |
