Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 10: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that in next six to eight months, state will witness massive expansion in development, but said little on the previous five years that his government spent in power. The Chief Minister made this statement while addressing a public meeting at Trungal area of Assar after inaugurating a bridge over river Chenab. As the election year is coming near, he is talking about expansion and development but he has an unimpressive report card with regards to development works especially in Doda-Kishtwar belts. The Chief Minister forgot that in 2009, Trungal witnessed a landslide due to which the Batote-Kishtwar national highway remained closed for few days, but rather than restoring the link by repairing the road that suffered damages, the Public Works Department, in a conspiracy, constructed another link by spending crores of rupees. While Chief Minister chose to stay quiet on the conspiracy, he also didn't talk about the hardships being faced by the people of twin districts Doda and Kishtwar. Similarly, the soil erosion at Trungal and other parts of from Batote to Pul Doda, on the banks of river Chenab has become a routine affair and the national highway has sunk many at times. But the Chief Minister didn't make a mention of it. CM's rally was purely in election mode but the manner in which he ignored local issues, did not augur well with the attendance that had gathered to listen to him. |
