Jammu, Nov 10: Indirectly admitting that the Chief Minister's Grievance Cell had failed to achieve its objective, Omar Abdullah Saturday launched another medium [email protected] to impress the unemployed youth. Addressing the unit holders, who have entered into the entrepreneurship field through the Sher-i-Kashmir Employment and Welfare Programme for Youth (SKEWPY) projected and piloted by CM, at Pampore on November 9, Omar Abdullah, described entrepreneurs as Christopher Columbus, Vasco De Gama and Neil Armstrong of present day. However, Omar's newly offered medium and impressive speech was taken with a pinch of salt by prospective entrepreneurs. Shahid Murtaza Handoo resident of Pandan Nowhatta, Srinagar, who had sought loan from JKEDI, a government agency which falls under Chief Minister portfolio refused him loan. He said the Chief Minister had failed to weed out corruption from the system and watched the rot helplessly. "The unbridled powers given to the management of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute has only worsened the situation. The arrogant officials do not give a damn to the directions of the CM's Grievance Cell. Shahid being repeatedly harassed by the JKEDI, approached the cell on April 16, 2013 seeking CM's intervention to secure a loan under Seed Capital Fund Scheme, initiated by JKEDI. The Cell, however, failed to help Shahid. Documents in possession of Shahid reveal that the Cell did not redress his grievance. Shahid on March 25, 2013 applied in JKEDI Pampore for distributorship under the scheme 'Seed Capital Fund'. At the time of registration, for purpose, he was assured by JKEDI that his application would be entertained for distributionship. "I deposited Rs 2 lacs with the Coca Cola Company to get the distributorship. But the JKEDI refused to settle my case. When I took the application form, I was told that the JKEDI would provide me Rs 14 lacs out of which Rs 5 lac were non-refundable as subsidy." On April 16, the complaint was forwarded to the grievance Cell. On April 17, the Industries and Commerce Department was directed to dispose off the complaint at an earliest. On July 1, the Industries and Commerce Department was again told to dispose off the complaint as the time for disposal of the complaint received in CM"s Grievance Cell had already lapsed. Hoping against hope, when Shahid approached the JKEDI a few day as back , he was told to get a recommendation from any minister. |
