| BJP sweeping Delhi, MP, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan | | ORG opinion poll | | Rustam
JAMMU, Nov 10: The Congress is in for a bigger defeat and the BJP is also set to replace the Congress in Delhi after a long gap of 15 years. This is what the latest pre-poll survey conducted by Org for reputed magazine, India Today, suggests. It suggests the exit of the incumbent Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit from power after a period of 15 years and says that BJP's Harsh Vardhan will become new Chief Minister. The opinion poll suggests that while the BJP will win 36 seats in the 70-member House, the Congress will get 22 seats. In other words, while the BJP will increase its tally by 13 seats as compared to its 2008 tally of 23 seats, the Congress's tally would come down from 43 in 2008 to 22 in 2013. Significantly, the Org survey, unlike other poll surveys which only recently said that the Aam Admi Party (AAP) will win 18 seats and get around 27 per cent of the total votes polled, will get only 8 seats. It is clear that the BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Bhai Modi factor has clicked and is working for the main opposition BJP. This is evident from the pre-poll poll survey conducted by ORG which suggests that the BJP is not only all set to win the assembly elections in Delhi, but also in three other crucial poll-bound poll states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. As per the findings of the survey, made public the day before yesterday, the BJP, which has been ruling Madhya Pradesh for years now, will win a whopping 160 seats in the 230-member House and the Congress 78 if elections are held now. As many as 60 per cent voters in MP want the incumbent Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chohan to be reelected. More importantly, according to the survey, Chohan is the first choice of 65 per cent of the educated voters. Likewise, in Chhattisgarh, the BJP, which has been ruling the state since 2003, will get a minimum of 46 seats in the 90-member Assembly. The Congress will to get 42 seats only, the opinion poll says. Nearly 56 per cent of the voters in the state want to see the incumbent Chief Minister Raman Singh reelected for the straight third time. In Rajasthan, the Opposition BJP is storming back to power under the leadership of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. According to the survey, the BJP will win 120 seats in the 200-member House, and the Congress may get 78 seats. Around 50 per cent of the voters want change of guard in Rajasthan. This latest pre-poll survey does vindicate those who had been saying that an anti-Congress wave was blowing in the country. |
