Govt keen in bridging gap between schools, students: Manohar

Kathua, Nov 10 : Terming education as potent tool to bring positive developmental outcomes in any society, Minister of State for Fisheries, Cooperatives, Finance and Planning Manohar Lal Sharma said state government with the liberal funding of the central government is keen in bridging the gap between schools and students by opening more educational institutions with all necessary infrastructure in every habitation across the state.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stones of twin buildings of Government High School Mela in tehsil Hiranagar. The additional four room school building will be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 33.91 lacs under district plan funds whereas another building will be coming up with an estimated cost of Rs 21.50 lacs under RMSA( Rashtriya Madhmik Shikhsa Abhiyan). Manohar Lal Sharma said teaching fraternity were entrusted with the responsibility to channelize the energies of the students in making them a better human as well as better citizen of the nation. The minister interacted with school students and teachers and enquired about teaching - learning practices. He also gave away the certificates of appreciation among meritorious students of Government High School Mela. Later Manohar Lal Sharma also convened a public grievances camp in Mela panchayat and listened the problems and demands of the people. While speaking to the people Manohar Lal Sharma said that the purpose of such camp is to take first hand knowledge of the problems of the people at their door steps and to provide on spot redressal of the same. He directed AC (D) and BDO Hirangar to disburse the pending MGNREGA payments at the earliest. He also directed XEN PWD to take the blacktopping and repair work at the earliest, besides to cover the sc mohalla as well. He passed instructions to XEN PDD to provide electric poles as desired by the sarpanchs. He asked the PWD department to make estimate of play ground.
Additional S.P Kathua, Assistant Commissioner (Dev) Kathua, Tehsildar Hiranagar, BDO Hiranagar, XEN PWD, XEN PDD, Principal, Sarpanchs and Panchs, staff and large number of school were also present on the occasion.
