Early Times Report

JAMMU, Nov 18: Just 20 days are left for the prestigious Delhi Assembly poll, which are slated for December 4 and it now appears that the Congress is failing on all fronts, including getting crowd to its election rallies. Indeed, it is a nightmare coming true for the Congress party. Is the Congress paying the price for its corrupt ways or is it that AICC vice-president and the Congress's Prime Ministerial candidate Rahul Gandhi and his mother Sonia Gandhi have lost their charisma among the voters, simply because people know what they stand for. Moreover, despite favorable reporting by the bulk of the mainstream media, things have not helped them. Add to that BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's overgrowing popularity and the woe of the Congress seems to be beyond redemption. "Is it time for the Congress to dump Rahul before the nation dumps him?", political pundits have started asking. Well atleast ground reports suggest that the message of the people is clear enough. Despite Rahul Gandhi's repeated outcry to vote for Congress on the lines of development, each of his rallies is witnessing withering crowds. Things have come to such a sorry pass that in the yesterday's election rally at Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had to request the crowd of a few hundred people to stay a little longer and listen to its vice-president. "My dear sisters, at least listen to Rahulji before leaving the venue," she said while appealing to the crowd. As a matter of fact, to add insult to injury, people began leaving once Rahul Gandhi started speaking. This is becoming a grave concern for the Congress as this is not the isolated incident. Earlier too, whenever Rahul Gandhi addressed the rally, he was forced to cut short. It means that people belonging to Congress' stronghold - Dakhinpuri too is not enamoured by Rahul.
