Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 18: As the Jammu and Kashmir government is completing five years in office, Members of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of various districts of Jammu and Kashmir have alleged that decision taken in District Development Board (DDB) meetings are not implemented. The opposition MLAs have been raising this issue since long but now members belonging to coalition government are also not happy with the non-implementation of decision taken in these meetings.
The most vocal MLA from Congress who has unequivocally raised his voice against Omar government has been kept at a bay by both Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) and state government.
On Monday morning, he emphasized that decisions taken in DDB meetings must be implemented. He said that government had decided to set up more health centers in various constituencies but so far no headway has been made in this regard.
He said that during the time of Ghulam Nabi Azad as J&K Chief Minister, decisions taken in DDB meetings were implemented in letter and spirit but present government has not shown any progress.
An opposition MLA blamed government for not implementing the decision taken in DDB meetings.
"The government has made mockery of things and there is no sanctity of decisions taken in DDB meetings. The government dismisses decisions ruing paucity of funds," he said.
Giving instances of non-implementation of these decisions, he said that in 2010, under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, a decision was taken to upgrade two schools in his constituency, but so far nothing has been done.
"The DDB decisions are valid for one year but government has adopted delaying tactics in implementing the same," he added.
