| By-passing Cong, NC starts cosying up with BJP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 18: National Conference which has accused PDP of getting closer with the BJP has now itself gravitating towards the Narendra Modi led BJP. NC patron and union minister Dr Farooq Abdullah has publically stated that former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee be given Bharat Ratna. This demand was first by BJP and supporting it means Dr Farooq Abdullah is slowly gravitating towards BJP. This is in line with the NC which while accusing PDP of becoming a team of Modi led BJP, is itself not ruling out possibility of getting into alliance with the Modi led BJP. But in the meantime it's also publically stating that NC is a committed constituent of Congress led UPA. NC is trying to keep both the major national parties in good humor in line with its past policies which were crafted by former Chief Minister and mentor of NC Sheikh Abdullah who developed and mastered the knack of being on right side of the party which in power in the Centre. NC has enjoyed power in the Centre when BJP was there and it continued to do when BJP not only rejected its Autonomy report which was thrown in the dustbin but also when Gujarat riots had taken place when some of the constituents of had left it also. Omar Abdullah continued to be minister in the Centre. NC knows that going by the kind of support BJP prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is getting there is every possibility of the BJP coming to the power again. Party also knows that antagonizing a party which is controlling the Centre. Party which has accused the PDP of sailing on two boats is itself doing the same. NC has given charge of being friendly with Congress to Omar Abdullah and Farooq Abdullah is keeping BJP in good humor in Delhi. NC had stated the PDP is using services of some officials and journalists to get close to the BJP while NC itself has cultivated friends in BJP and being in Delhi Dr Farooq is doing job for the party and his demand of Bharat Ratna is testimony of their true intentions.
