DFP organizes symposium on Food Security Act

SAMBA, Dec 5 : In connection with the ongoing intensive awareness campaign on Bharat Nirman Phase -II, with special emphasis on recently passed Food Security Act, Kathua Field Unit of Directorate of Field Publicity in close coordination and cooperation with Education Department organized a Symposium on Food Security Act at Jagriti Shiksha Niketan, High School.
Programme was organized to sensitize and mobilize the masses in general and rural masses in particular, about various aspects and provisions of recently passed National Food Security Act - 2013, which is a historic initiative of Govt. of India for ensuring food and nutritional security to the people of the country in eradicating hunger and starvation. The Act which has special focus on the needs of poorest of the poor, women and children in providing food grains on highly subsidize rates.
The awareness programme was aimed at sensitizing and mobilizing the rural masses in general and rural youth community in particular especially at the grass root level about various aspects and provisions of recently passed Food Security Act, which is meant for providing food to all.
On the occasion, a symposium was organized in which large number of students of the host school participated with great enthusiasm. Over half a dozen participants of the host school participated in the symposium with zeal and expressed their views on the subject.
The function was presided over by Neeraj Sharma, Principal of the host school, whereas N. Gulshan Raina (IIS), Publicity Officer from the organizing department was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
While presenting vote of thanks, Neeraj Sharma, Principal Jagriti Shiksha Niketan, High School appreciated the efforts made by DFP in making the rural masses aware about various central sponsored schemes and programmes launched by Govt. of India from time to time for the benefits, upliftment and safeguard of the people of the country in general and rural populace in particular.
Sharma also requested the organizing department of more such awareness programmes on other themes and topics in the near future, so that rural masses may be able to know more and more about entrally sponsored developmental schemes and would be able to get maximum benefits from these schemes and programmes. On the occasion, a panel of three judges was also nominated for the judgment of the participants during the debate. In order of merit Kumari Ruby Sharma, Kumari Subh Sharma and Kumari Manisha Sharma got first, second and third positions respectively. Later the meritorious participants were honored with prizes by the galaxy of officers and other dignitaries. Publicity literature on National Food Security Act - 2013 was also distributed among the audience on the occasion for making them more literate and aware about this National Programme.
