| Modi's comments continue to stir political spectrum | | NC 'drags' comments in tribute giving function too | |
Early Times Report jammu, Dec 5: BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi's comment on Article 370 has stirred the political waters not only at the national level but also at the local level in J&K with almost all parties engaged in uproarious tones for the last few days. As the remarks have irked ruling National Conference most, its rank and file is provoked to the extent that no leader nor any platform is left untouched by strong and provocative reaction. Minutes after Modi made this comment on December 1, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was the first to react which was followed by a chain of such knee jerk reactionary sentiment every day. Even today when the party convened function at Party Headquarters to pay tributes to its founder late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the leaders made a reactionary comment on Modi utterings, though it was unwarranted for the situation and day leadership was observing. It was yet again NC's Provincial President Devinder Singh Rana who in the middle of his speech lambasted Modi and castigated BJP for what he said the party raked up Article 30 as a strategy of its political machinations and contended that this is being done in a deliberate attempt to vitiate the political atmosphere ahead of 2014 elections. More than Modi's comment on this Article on which he only sought to have debate initiated as to whether this has done any good or bad to the state subjects, it is Modi's sarcastic remark on J&K' over dependence on funds from Centre and even after getting the aid successive Governments have never remained satisfied, rather abusing the Centre more often than not. While Modi did not mention any particular party for always ruing and complaining, it is the NC which continues to over react on this remark, perhaps as a matter of guilt it has on what is being seen as reality by the observers. PDP leadership too reacted to Modi comments, albeit in a guarded and politically caliberated tone and tenure, something expected of a mature political outfit. Even Congress, which is the main rival of BJP and considering Modi an eyesore for more than one reason, did lambast both, thrust being on doublespeak of the party over the issue of Article 370. However, it is only NC which seems to have taken much to its negative stride the comment of Modi on J&K getting liberal funding from Centre. In today's speech NC leaders used the word 'beggar state', an expression which Modi never made. On lines of adding fuel to the fire, NC today said Modi's comment amounted to affront to the people of the state who love their self esteem. NC even went to the extent of justifying it on a platform where it was irrelevant , given the composition of the audience, that J&K is getting Central assistance as a matter of right, something which every state is entitled to as share from Planning Commission. Now, it is either that NC leadership has not been able to comprehend or decipher what Modi wanted to say when he referred to funds remark or deliberately trying to convolute the matter in confusions so that wrong signals go to masses on Modi's comment. While NC keeps on locking horns , it is for the masses to decide and decipher in clearer manner rather than getting swayed in layers of confusions. |
