| Junior Cong Minister in soup, NGO smells scam in Pahari hostel | | Backdoor appointees include 55 years old | | Early Times Report jammu, Dec 5: A junior Minister of ruling coalition from Rajouri district is in soup as allegations of backdoor appointment and favouritism have surfaced against him. A social worker has accused him of wrongdoings and alleged that the said Minister has managed to get 13 people employed through backdoor in Pahari Hostel Rajouri. Not only this, the social worker has further alleged that 30 unemployed youth have been engaged in Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department in complete violation of all rules and regulations. It has been further alleged that of the 13 people engaged in Pahari hostel, 11 are close relatives and supporters of the said Minister. Among those who have been allegedly engaged include Mohammad Ishaq of Manjakote, Mohammad Ajaz of Sarola in Manjakote, Imran Khan of Dabrote, Tanveer Hussain of Gambhir, Abdul Khaliq, Mohammad Ali, Shahnaz Khan and Abdul Khaliq, all from Manjakote. Sources said that the said social worker has already handed over the documents to Crime Branch and Vigilance. They added that all these employees were engaged after Khan was inducted as Vice-Chairman of Pahari Advisory Board and the process continued even after he was inducted in the State Cabinet. It has been further alleged that one of these appointees who is now working in Pahari Hostel Rajouri, was working at the residence of Secretary of the Pahari Advisory Board for many years. The NGO has asked the Government to explain as to how a 55 year old man was engaged in Pahari Hostel Rajouri by the Secretary Advisory Board when the maximum age limit for employment is 38. It has further sought to know as to why he has been handed down a job when the same should have been advertised as per the Government policy. The NGO has further alleged that lakhs of rupees have been shown as utilised on the name of rent and purchases for Girl's Hostel Rajouri when the same is nowhere in existence. It has added that the rent for the said hostel has been drawn since February 2013. The NGO has further alleged that there is strong nexus between advisory board and local officers to withdraw and utilise funds. They have further said that there is not even a single admission in the hostel yet the funds have been withdrawn. Huge funds have been shown as withdrawn for computer training but there is no computer training or any type of tuition in the hostel. Drawing and Disbursing Powers have been given to District Social Welfare Officer but the NGO has alleged that the social help of Secretary Pahari Advisory Board has been engaged on daily wage basis at the age of 55 has been playing vital role in this entire scam. They have further said that during the years 2011 and 2012, huge amount was withdrawn for computer training in the name of one Manjit Kumar, who was regular student of the Tariq college of Education. |
