| ANC celebrates birth anniversary of late Sheikh Abdullah | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 5 : Awami National Conference (ANC) today organized function to celebrate birth anniversary of Sher-i- Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Party Headquarter Jammu . Speaking on the occasion, ANC Provincial President S. Gian Singh said that Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was one of the tallest figures of freedom struggle. His credential as a secular leader was tested time and out of which he emerged always triumphant. His unshakeable faiths in communal harmony during a crucible period of 1947 form a golden chapter of the Indian History. At the time of Partition, when the entire Indian sub-continent was engulfed in the worst type of communal frenzy the Sheikh kept the top banner of Hindu Sikh Muslim in Kashmir .Adding further Singh said that Sheikh Abdullah led the people in fight for social political and economic justice and it was he who initiated revolutionary reforms like land to the tillers, giving a lead in this respect to the entire country. His life and ideals would continue to inspire the people in years to come, he added. Paying rich tribute Distt President Vijay Magotra said that he was the aspiration of people of J&K and symbol of unity and enmity ''Sheikh Sahib denoted the state"s high traits of the pluralistic ethos and communal harmony . He nurtured and strengthened this characteristic and cemented the bonds of love between various sections of the society and different regions of the state. Paying his tributes, Youth President Raj Sharma said that late Sher -i- Kashmir took visionary steps to uplift poor people in the state .His land mark decision would always remain in the minds of the people of state. The real tributes to him would be to complete the works which he could not complete during his life time.
