Jammu District TT Championship Hanumant bags Cadet boys' title

JAMMU, Dec 5: Hanumant Singh defeated Anant in straight sets of 14-12, 12-10, 11-05 to bag the Cadet boys' singles title in the ongoing 35th Jammu District Table Tennis Championship, organised by the J&K Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, in the semifinals, Anant defeated Jai Bhardwaj in equal straight sets of 11-09, 11-09 while Hanumant trounced Akhilesh 11-04, 11-04. Quarterfinals: Anant Rohmetra bt Shobit 11-06, 11-05; Jai Bhardwaj bt Mukand Bairi 11-06, 11-06; Akhilesh bt Ritiam 11-08, 11-08; Hanumant bt Rajdeep 11-08, 11-03.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal including Satish Gupta, Narinder Singh and Meenu.

Commerce College faces PG to retain Kho-Kho title

JAMMU, Dec 5: Government SPMR College of Commerce shall be playing against the same side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments to defend the title in inter-college men's kho-kho tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus ground, here tomorrow.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, the last year's runners-up, PG Department defeated Government MAM College 18-09 while Commerce College outplayed Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua by a margin of three points.
The final is scheduled to be played at 10.30 am at the same venue. Today's semifinals officiated by the technical penal including Gagan Kumar, Anil Kumar, Sunil Sharma, Ankush Sharma and Abhishek Sharma.

J&K Bank Academy blanks Young Star in opener

JAMMU, Dec 5: Playing in their maiden game, the Jammu based J&K Bank Academy today blanked Young Star 4-0 in the inaugural match of the 4th Sher-e-Kashmir Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by the Youth National Conference at GGM Science College ground, here.
With today's win, the young Bank Academy side reached the next round of pre-quarterfinals. Now, the Academy shall take on the winners of tomorrow's scheduled match between Jammu Sports and Mussa Club.
Earlier, all the four goals for Bank Academy came in the first half of the play with Arjun, Sahil, Parveen and Pradeep netting the ball in 11th, 15th, 19th and 30th minute of the match respectively.
The fortnight-long tournament kick started by Member Legislative Council (MLC), Devinder Singh Rana in a well attended opening function. He interacted with the teams playing in the inaugural match and lauded the efforts of chairman organising committee, Surinder Singh Bunty and also J&K Football Association for making the event a regular feature.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Surinder Singh presented a brief note of the tournament amidst introduction of the oragnising committee to the chief guest.
FIXTURE: Heros' Club shall take on Akhnoor XI at 1.30 pm; Jammu Sports shall face Mussa Club at 3 pm tomorrow.


KC Gurukul whiz-kid medal winners

JAMMU, Dec 5: KC Gurukul Public School kids have brought laurels for the 3rd consecutive year in the 13th SOF National Cyber Olympiad. Five Scholars from grade 4t and 5th, namely, Dharun Gupta, Jaspreet Kour, Sudiksha Pandita, Pratham Thakur and Agrim Singh received gold medals from the science Olympiad Foundation, New Delhi.

Airtel, Manchester United bring Tricks App to India

JAMMU, Dec 5: Leading global telecommunications company, Bharti Airtel and Manchester United today jointly announced the launch of an innovative Manchester United Tricks App for soccer fans in India.
Currently available on the iOS platform, Man United Tricks App is an exciting interactive game featuring animations of past and present Manchester United players.
"Those football fans can control the animations to perform tricks to earn points and bonuses. As they play, game lovers can also purchase and unlock new players and virtual items such as club kits and locations," an official communique issued here today informed.
An interactive gaming app, it will also allow customers to engage with their favourite football club. One can easily download the app from the Apple App store for Rs 55.
The launch of the Manchester United Tricks App on Airtel was in continuation of the exclusive partnership between the two companies and follows the successful launch of Manchester United's Fixtures App in India earlier this month.
Shri Ram Club lifts Friendship Volleyball Cup

KATHUA, Dec 5: Shri Ram Club Monka Talab today lifted the title trophy of 2nd phase of Range Police Volleyball Friendship Cup outplaying Kathua Police XI 3-1 (29-27, 25-26, 25-22, 15-08) in a well contested final played at Sports Stadium, here.
In the final and prize distribution function, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Mohan Lal was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. Additional SP Yogesh Sharma was guest of honour.
While appreciating the efforts of both the finalist teams, SSP lavished praise on the organizing committee for the successful conduct of the competition. Also present were retired SP Sardar Khan, DySP, Daljeet Singh, Rattan Bharti and Jeet Singh.
This competition was organized by Range Police Headquarters Jammu under Civic Action Programme of the Police wherein eight teams of the district took part. Matches were conducted by Chuni Lal, Uttam Singh, Ashok Kumar, Ganesh Dutt, Parveen Singh, Dharampal and Balbir Singh.
Meanwhile, coordinator of the Friendship Cup, Rajesh Gill informed that the third phase of the Range Police Volleyball Friendship Cup shall be organized at Samba from December seven. Interested clubs have been asked to submit entries at Police Station Samba well in time.


Army organizes T-20 championship at Chatroo

Chatroo, Dec 5: Week long T-20 Championship organized by 11 Rashtriya Rifles battalion for the youth of Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District concludes with lot of excitement and nerve enthralling performances. Total 12 teams participated in seven days long championship. Final was played between teams of Chatroo XI and Passerkot XI in which Passerkot defeated Chatroo by six wickets. Winners and runners up teams were given Rs 2000 and 1500 respectively as prize money. Raiyees Ahmed student of Degree College Chatroo was adjudged as the Man of the match and Man of the Series as well. The youth of Tehsil Chatroo thanked Army for providing such an opportunity and wished for the same in future as well.
Tiny Tots School excels in Roller Skating Competition

JAMMU, Dec 5: Students of Tiny Tots Hr. Sec. School Maheshwar Sharma of class 6th, Sawayam Sharma of class 2nd were declared winners in Jammu & Kashmir State Roller Skating Championship- 2013.
A large numbers of students from different schools participated in the event. Sawayam Sharma of class 2nd won the Gold Medal in Junior Group. Maheshwar Sharma of class 6th won the Gold Medal and also brought an over all trophy in Roller Skating Championship- 2013.


Educational motivational tour for girl students to Delhi, Noida, Agra, organized

MENDHAR, Dec 5: Under the aegis of Krishna Ghati Brigade, Balnoi Battalion has organised Educational/ Motivational tour for Girls students to Delhi, Noida, Agra and back under Operation Sadbhavana.
The aim of the tour was to provide the Girls students with an exposure to the rich cultural diversity & varied traditions of other parts of the country & progress achieved under conditions of peace & stability. The tour will enable the young impressionable minds of these locals to integrate with the national mainstream & motivate the local populace to wean away from extremist ideology. Commander, Krishna Ghati Brigade while speaking on the occasion emphasized on the importance of such tours, which will enable the students to visualize the welfare and development that has taken place in states which are free from militancy. Success of the visit will help, in a large extent towards weaning away future generations from extremist ideology and curbing dissatisfaction, by way of integration with the rest of the country.
The local Sarpanchs & village heads appreciated the efforts made by Balnoi Battalion for organizing such educational/ motivational tour and also assured their support and help to the Army and local administration to create an environment of peace and harmony.
